Choose Mix Color
Choosing Your Carpet Or Rug Color by Joan Montoya
If people notice the color of your floor more than the colors that you have decorated or accessorized with then you have a problem. If you choose a color that is too bright or a color that clashes with your walls, window treatments and furnishings and it jumps out at you when you walk into the room, you have made a mistake. That is the reason I prefer to use the more modern colors that are deeper, bolder and more muted. Trying to decorate with bright pastel colors can be challenging to say the least and sometimes you end up with an effect that overshoots the color palette you were intending. Deeper and more muted colors tend to blend well with their surroundings and hardly ever overwhelm your hard work at designing your home.
Always use complementing colors. If you are unsure about how colors blend together in a complementary way you can use a simple artists tool to reference which color will complement another. This tool is called a color wheel. Its original purpose is to find what colors to mix together in order to achieve a certain color to paint with but it can be a very effective tool for decorating. You can buy a simple color wheel from any good art supply store. However there are now some hi-tech ways of checking complimentary colors. If you go online you can find various tools that help you find colors that compliment one another. There are even tools that will choose your entire color scheme for you. We have some examples of these tools and how to use them on our web site.
Choosing color for rugs is slightly different than choosing color for wall-to-wall carpet. Area rugs are most frequently used as accent colors to compliment your design, although there are occasions when all the same rules apply like when you use a large area rug or when you use a rug to segment or define one area of the room as a separate design scheme than the rest of the room.
Whichever way you use it, color is going to make or break your overall design plan so don't be afraid to use it to your advantage. Just follow a few simple rules and always use your instinct (Your first instinct is usually your best) and don't be afraid to make a statement. Use some bolder colors and colors with more depth. This will leave a lasting impression on those that you decorate for. The ones that you love and care about deserve a rich and perceptive environment in which to live.
Remodeling the bathroom? Cabinets are a major consideration in redecorating small bathrooms because they make up the focal point of the overall design as well as provide the bulk of the storage space.
Often, bathrooms are the smallest rooms in the house, but it is also where towels, paper napkins, medical supplies and toiletries are stored. This is why bathroom remodeling can be tricky, especially if the objective is to create the illusion of big space. The ideal bathroom should have enough space for storage but at the same time, leave enough room for washing and bathing.
Free standing cabinets can solve the space dilemmas of small bathrooms. Available in modular units, free standing cabinets are easy to assemble and rearrange.
