The word "addiction" is extremely overused by most of society. We have a tendency to claim to be "addicted" to everything from chocolate to action films and everything in between. It's one thing to exclaim we have a "jones" for something that we feel strongly attracted to, but a bona fide addiction is different and can be adverse. On the other hand, various "addictions" may not be to injurious substances. Even some genuine addictions are fixed on neutral or affirmative objects. So are you in reality addicted to something or do you simply thoroughly like it a lot? We'll cover a few of the warning signs of genuine addiction.

Do you find you want more of what you desire to make you sense the same? For example, once upon a time you could have felt better subsequently consuming just one cup of coffee. However at this time you don't feel right until you've had at least two or three. This can be a sign of addiction. We are losing self-control when it requires more and more of a substance to produce the same effect in us. That syndrome is a typical signal that someone is an addict.

Are you truthful with other folks about how much or how frequently you have what you desire? It is not uncommon for alcoholics to meet up with people for cocktails or beers only after having a few at home on their own. This enables them to drink as much as they desire without it looking like they are having a lot in public. Or they may just keep consuming alcohol subsequent to parting from their friends. This type of deceit and hiding of your manner is a symptom that you know what you are doing is wrong. Pay attention to that sensation.

Know that there are a lot of various typies of addiction. We can become addicted to things like shopping, working out and eating just as effortlessly as we may become addicted to drugs or alcohol. Just ask yourself if it's taking more of something to make you feel good, if you're concealing things or lying in relation to what you're doing, and if you feel guilty or ashamed; if so you're experiencing the warning signs of addiction and would be well advised to get some counseling. Just about anything is okay in moderation--it is when that something takes over other components of our lives that we run into trouble.

If you believe that you have become addicted to a substance or activity, inform someone and try to get some help. You do not have to give up your life to addiction.
